Head on up to beautiful Chidlow and check out the Chidlow Log Chop and Spit in the Hills BBQ Festival! Its on all weekend!

Saturday

Check out the MASSIVE Log Chop Competition where 30 of the states best axemen go head to head in a spectacular display of strength and skill. Chopping starts at 9.30am and events will run approximately every 15 minutes. Watch as the up and coming juniors battle it out. Most of these young fellas are 2nd and third generation axemen and boy have they got the goods!

We also have the veterans event, these old boys put most of the young ones to shame as they prove their skill outweighs strength any day!

Then there's the big boys! Watch the best of the best as they go head to head in the championship events. Watch in awe as the axemen make their way up a 5m tree in the nail biting tree pegging event and pick out your favourite team in the relay! Its a day NOT to be missed!

While you are checking out the Log Chop, make sure you head on over to the markets. We have a great variety of stalls, its a great place to pick up some local produce or find the perfect gift for a loved one. Don't forget Mother's Day is just around the corner!

Food, did we mention there is food! Oh and not just any food but prize winning bbq food for those that love their meat and a whole lot more for those wanting to try something different!

Make sure you pop on in to the Chidlow Tavern for drink too. This historical pub is something worth seeing. Walk around and look at the old photos on the wall. The place is rich in history and is a perfect place to grab brekky, lunch or even dinner and of course a mandatory pint!

Entry to the Log Chop and Markets is free. So make sure you bring the whole family!

Sunday

Did someone say BBQ!!!! That's right Sunday is ALL about the barbeque. If the smell of smoky meat wafting through the air isn't enough for you then boy do I have good news! Grab yourself a tasting card for $5 and become a judge!

Tasting starts from 2pm! How does it work?

Step 1 – Come to the Information Booth and decide how many tasting cards you would like to purchase.

Each tasting card is $5.00

Each card gets you 3 tastes and 3 voting tokens

Purchase as many as you like.

Step 2 – Walk over to the BBQ area. Look for signs that say “YES – We are in The Chidlow’s Choice Contest” (most of our competitors are).

a. Decide which teams you would like to get a taste from.

b. Ask the team for a taste – and they will stamp your initial card for you.

NOTE: Each tasting pack will give you one taste from 3 different teams.

Step 3 – Now it’s time to vote. You may put as many tokens into one competitor’s bucket as you like.

a. Come back to the information booth.

b. Write any comments on the tasting card that you would like to go back to the teams.

c. You many only vote for the teams you tasted product from.

d. You may put as many of your tokens into each bucket as you wish.

e. Leave the tasting cards with us at the information booth.

Step 4 – Still hungry? Buy another tasting pack! You can do this as many times as you like.

The team with the most tokens in their bucket at the end of the day will win! There are 3 cash prizes to be given out (1st , 2nd and 3rd ). Cash will also be given back to the teams for every token they have received in their voting bucket.

Want even more from your Sunday? Good because we have more! Between 10am and 2pm the axemen are back! Members of the Progressive Axemen's Association will be putting on a display not to be missed! There will be tree pegging, cross cut sawing, chainsaw racing and did I mention AXE THROWING! Watch as the guys show you why they are considered some of the best in the state!

They will also be running a cross cut sawing comp for spectators! So grab yourself a partner and head to the arena. Have a go at sawing take home a round of wood and see if you have the knack for cross cut sawing! You may just want to take it up professionally!

Once again the markets will be running with a whole lot more entertainment and activities for the kids. So don't miss out on this spectacular weekend in Perth's Beautiful Hills!
